Why I chose recycled cotton
There are many ways to make a bag, but not all materials are created with the same environmental footprint. I chose recycled cotton because it gives existing fibres a second life, instead of creating new ones from scratch. That means less water, less land use, and less resource demand - all while keeping textiles in circulation and out of landfill.
Both totes are certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) for verified recycled content and responsible processing with restricted use of hazardous chemicals.
But the material is only half the story. The real impact comes from how many times a bag is used. A reusable bag only becomes the better environmental choice when it replaces hundreds of disposable ones over its lifetime - which is why I focussed on durability, not trend. Strong seams, premium hardware, and a design made to be gently hand washed and used for years, not months.
Recycled materials matter. Long life matters more.
THE MATERIALS INSIDE MATTER TOO
Most supermarket cooler bags use thin synthetic linings that prioritise cost and convenience.
I wanted to create something different.
The insulated bag is lined with LFGB-certified food safe PEVA, a thicker more durable lining that has a more elevated feel than typical supermarket cooler bags. It meets a stricter European testing standard used for materials intended to come into contact with food.
This low-tox lining was an important choice for my family, and yours.
